Eagles Express Concern About White Space Vote

When I think of white space, I think of it in terms of page design. However, there's another type of white space out there: unused radio frequencies.

Spearheaded by Don's RAC, the Eagles, among many other performing artists, are expressing concern about an FCC initiative to allow mobile devices in this "white space." These devices could interfere with a performer's use of wireless microphones. The artists would like to review the FCC's findings, which are currently not available to the public, but that would also involve a delay of the Nov. 4 vote. They've issued a letter asking for such a delay and the release of information. Read more on BroadcastingCable.com.

Eagles in Holland 1973 - full show!

As my final treat in my "week of celebration" for the first year of Eagles Online Central, I've got a real rarity! The earliest full concert bootleg I've come across (I think it's even earlier than the BBC video, as the guys are a lot less polished and they mess up a few times). It's rough, but it's great to see, and even includes Randy doing Keep on Tryin' (I know of no other videos of that). Thanks to Joop from The Netherlands for this!

I've decided to try something new - I'm putting the files up for download, or you can stream them through a player. See what I mean on the new video concert page.

In other news, according to the official site, the Eagles are set to play Worcester, Massachusetts on November 26. They'll be at the DCU Center. Tickets go onsale Sept. 22 through Ticketmaster.

New Download Page: Featured Live Show

Since not everyone has the time to conduct trades, I thought it would be nice if I put up an entire show for people to listen to occasionally. I'm calling it the Featured Live Show - this time, it's the infamous last concert in Long Beach, California on July 31, 1980. And no, you can't hear threats between the band members, but between songs the sound mysteriously drops out....

Also, I've added a few new sidebars, which you'll see eventually if you hit the front page enough!

Friday, September 5, 2008

Avatars and banners

I made tons of new Eagles avatars - check 'em out here!

Tour Page Updated

I finally got a chance to update the upcoming show page with the dates in Little Rock, Nashville, Green Bay, and Minneapolis.

Sorry I've been away for so long, but with my graduation on Aug. 2 (PhD! Yay!), the resultant celebrations and family visits, and then dealing with the hacking and moving the message board... phew! It's been crazy!

I plan to catch up even more on EOC updates this weekend.

Eagles News from Joe's Online Chat

Well, in spite of quite a few technical difficulties, Joe hosted a very entertaining live online chat tonight. We got an extra treat because Timothy joined him for the second half of the chat. It was very cute because in spite of both Joe and Tim wearing eyeglasses, they were unable to read or keep up with the questions that fans were asking. At one point, Joe even lent Tim his glasses to see if Tim could see better, but it didn't help. lol

And now for some Eagles-related highlights. Both Joe and Tim agreed that making Long Road Out of Eden was a "long and painful process". The Long Road Out of Eden tour will likely last at least another year. For the remainder of this year, the band will tour the midwest in September and will tour again in November. The November dates are unannounced, of course. Joe doesn't know when any west coast dates will be announced. Tim said not to quote him, but the band may possibly play some Florida dates in the winter months. In 2009, the tour will probably resume in January. They will not be in Australia in January as previously rumored, but are likely to visit there sometime next year, along with New Zealand and Japan. There are no plans to tour Europe again at this time. Regarding the suits that the band is wearing during their live shows, Joe repeated that he doesn't like them. Tim said that they are hot and that he feels "refreshed" when he removes his jacket.

I will be adding information to Joe Walsh Online and Timothy B. Schmit Online later this evening regarding details about their solo efforts so be sure to check them out. Way to go guys - that was an awesome hour!

Thursday, July 31, 2008

I promise, we DID remember Don's birthday!

Those of you who don't visit DonHenleyOnline.com might have thought we'd forgotten about Don's birthday, but not so. We just forgot to put it on THIS front page as well as on his site! I admit, it does get a bit confusing to run so many sites at the same time. At any rate, we did it up right like we do for all the guys, so if you want to check it out belatedly you can!

In other news, there has been a date announced for Nashville on September 18. It'll be at the Sommet Center.

Eagles plan on-again-off-again 2-year tour

Don Henley has told 95.3 WAOR radio that "this summer we're gonna tour every other month, and we'll do that on and off for two years probably because that's how long it will take us to do the globe at that rate."

Obviously, these plans are tentative, but it's still encouraging to think we'll "probably" have Eagles shows for another two years.

Joe Walsh Upcoming Meet'n'Greets

Henley Meet'n'Greet with dinner and an autographed guitar before NYC show

For the huge fans with a few thousand they can spare:

"An exclusive Eagles VIP experience, including a private dinner reception with the band’s co-founder, and environmentalist Don Henley, followed by the Madison Square Garden concert from your premium seats. Prior to taking the stage. Don will join you during dinner for a photo opportunity. In addition, to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime experience, each guest will be presented with an Eagles autographed guitar."

The cost? $3500.

(Considering that 5 star packages cost $1000 and don't even include a meet'n'greet, and an autographed guitar from Sam's Club costs $2500, it's really not a bad deal if you have that kind of money.)

The meetn'n'greet is sponsored by American Express - more information here.

Eagles to play at Hard Rock Park

This was published on USA Today:

"Fans of classic rock may want to plan a trip this June to Myrtle Beach, S.C. That's where and when Hard Rock Park — more than 150 acres of theme park featuring everything from roller coasters and children's play areas to restaurants and a live music amphitheatre — will open its doors.

The'Grand Opening Extravaganza' kicks off June 2 with a ceremony at the iron-gated entrance and a concert by the Eagles. 'The park is all about the power and influence of rock music,' says Steven Goodwin, its CEO. 'Hearing the Eagles playing live, drifting across the entire park, is going to be a great way of saying "We've arrived."' "

Festivities will include a celebrity golf tournament."

More information can be found on the official Hard Rock Park Blog, including the fact that tickets will go on sale March 17 at Hard Rock Park's All Access Entry or online at http://www.hardrockpark.com.

I wonder if Glenn will play in the golf tournament?

Download Henley interview off of Virgin Radio

I've put up Don Henley's interview with Ben Jones that aired today on Virgin Radio, divided into four parts:

Part One (18 megs)

Part Two (17 megs)

Part Three (7 megs)

Part Four (8 megs)

Interesting factoids include a plan to tour all over the world over the next two years and a desire to work up Waiting in the Weeds for live performance. Let's hope that pans out!
