2013: Eagles Year in Review

It's 2014 now - Happy New Year, everyone! - but before we charge on, let's take a moment to look back.

This was a year largely defined by the History of the Eagles documentary and the ensuing tour, but lots of other events occurred as well. Here's EOC's rundown of the year, Eagle-style.

JANUARY
19 - The new documentary History of the Eagles premieres at the Sundance Film Festival, with the Eagles in attendance

FEBRUARY
1 - Don Henley plays Atlantic City, NJ; it is the first solo show of the year
2 - Don Henley plays the "Night to Nurture" benefit in Toronto, Canada
15 - History of the Eagles Part 1 debuts on Showtime
16 - History of the Eagles Part 2 debuts on Showtime
21 - Don Felder begins a three-night run at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls
21 - Glenn Frey begins the Australian/New Zealand leg of his After Hours tour; he plays a total of 10 shows

MARCH
23 - Eagles play the MGM Grand in Las Vegas; it is their last show with the old, shorter setlist
27 - Joe Walsh begins a spate of shows as the special guest of Bob Seger, starting with Vancouver, Canada; he plays a total of nine shows with Seger over the next five weeks

APRIL
1 - Don Henley plays Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada
3 - Don Henley plays Huntington, NY; it is his last public solo show of the year
13 - Don Felder plays the Autism Speaks benefit
15 - Joe Walsh plays Huntington, NY; it is his only solo show of the year
18 - Don Henley inducts Randy Newman into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame
20 - Don Henley plays the Christus Gala in Beaumont, TX
25 - History of the Eagles is shown at Sundance London, with the Eagles in attendance
30 - History of the Eagles is released on DVD and Blu-Ray

MAY
4 - Glenn Frey plays Maui, Hawaii; it is his last solo show of the year
6 - The Party of Two plays a private show in Maui, Hawaii; it is their only show of the year
10 - Don Felder plays Columbus, OH for his Road to Forever tour

JUNE
1 - Don Felder plays the Festival des Guitares du Monde Abitibi-Témiscamingu, Quebec
2 - Glenn Frey participates in a charity walk for the LA Arthritis Foundation
13 - Don Felder plays Windsor, Ontario with Peter Frampton; they play a total of six shows together over the next two weeks

JULY
6 - Eagles kick off the first leg of the History of the Eagles tour in Louisville, KY; they do a total of 48 shows in the USA and Canada over the next few months

AUGUST

1 - Felder continues his Road to Forever tour at the Mountain Winery in Livermore, CA; he plays a total of eight shows over the next few months

SEPTEMBER
9 - Nellie Frey, Glenn Frey's mother, passes away
17 - Eagles announce that they will be opening the refurbished LA Forum; they schedule six dates for January 2014

OCTOBER

18 - Don Henley appears on PBS' Great Performances

NOVEMBER
8 - Eagles play the first of three shows opening the newly remodeled Madison Square Garden in New York City

DECEMBER
13 - Glenn Frey receives the John C. Argue Dickens Medal of Honor from the USC School of Music
21 - Joe Walsh joins Jeff Lynne and others at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA for night two of the "Merry Minstrel Music Circus" benefit
29 - Don Henley's appearance at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony paying tribute to Billy Joel airs on CBS

And that's all folks... for now.  The guys will be kickin' into gear again in just two weeks at the LA Forum!
