    Billboard Review of How Long

While we're talking about favorable reviews, this one is from Billboard:

"Comebacks are tricky business. An act must sound familiar enough not to alienate enduring fans, yet fresh enough to remain viable. The Eagles pull it off beautifully on the launch single from highly anticipated 'Long Road out of Eden,' their first album of all-new studio material in 28 years. 'How Long' is a vintage gem culled from J.D. Souther's 1972 debut solo effort. (He had a hand in the Eagles classics 'Best of My Love,' 'Heartache Tonight' and 'New Kid in Town.') With clever, literate lines ('Like a bluebird with his heart removed, lonely as a train') and instantaneous singalong melody, the song is commanded by lead vocalists Don Henley and Glenn Frey, who deliver a signature sound as novel and warm as 30 years ago. Joe Walsh contributes a searing guitar solo, and Timothy B. Schmit's distinctive voice bolsters memorable Eagles harmonies. If it took this long for the band to create something this good, 'How Long' was worth the wait. Already a Hot Shot debut at No. 44 at country radio and Most Added at AC, the Eagles' return proves to be more than a fond reminiscence. These guys are simply poised to soar all over again." —Deborah Evans Price

How Long Reviewed in Rolling Stone

The September 20th issue of Rolling Stone had this to say about "How Long":

"The catchy gallop, pitch-perfect twang and sparkling stair-step harmonies of 'How Long' augur well for the other twenty new songs on Long Road Out of Eden, the Eagle's first studio album in nearly 30 years--if you're content with deja vu. The track rolls and beams like a freshly scrubbed 'Take It Easy,' although you can clearly hear the difference between then and now in the unintended truth of one line near the end: 'What you get is not quite what you choose.' This time around, you'll only be able to buy your Eden at Walmart."

The song received 3 1/2 out of 4 stars!

New Download - Footage from the Walden Woods Benefit 1990

We've had tons of new stuff, how about a "new" oldie? I've put up a clip from MTV's Week in Rock back in 1990 where they show brief footage of the famous Walden Benefit from 1990, which featured the first time in ten years that Glenn Frey played on a stage with Don Henley and Timothy B. Schmit. Check it out on the Fun Stuff Video Page.

    Eagles sightings:
    • Not really Eagles, but related... Winslow, Arizona is having its annual "standing on the corner" festival to commemorate the famous line from Take It Easy. More details on the official event page.
